There are no two ways about it, this year’s FIFA World Cup has been absolutely amazing. Not only have there been a lot of big shocks along the way but our very own Three Lions have made it through to the semi-finals to meet Croatia! To put this great achievement into perspective, the last time England reached the semi-finals of the World Cup was in 1990 - yes 28 years ago!
With all of us at Oscar Knight behind Harry Kane and the rest of our great team, we’ve decided to compile a list of the top three places to watch the England v Croatia game in Putney and Wandsworth. And, with kick-off at 7pm, there’s plenty of time to rush back home, get changed into your England attire and head on down to one of these three great venues:
1. The Boathouse, Putney (www.boathouseputney.co.uk)
Located right next to the River Thames on the Putney Wharf development, The Boathouse offers an unmatched setting to watch England march into the final. Upholding Young’s traditional values of fine ales, craft beers and great wine there are plenty of drinks on offer and vibrant and energetic atmosphere to go with it. There’s even a balcony and a waterfront beer garden if the excitement is just too much for you!
Address: Brewhouse Lane, Putney, London SW15 2JX
2.The Hop Pole, Wandsworth (www.hoppolewandsworth.co.uk)
The Hop Pole is known for offering one of the best pints of Guinness in London, along with a healthy selection of tasty food and live sport - it’s also our favourite pub to visit in Wandsworth.Offering a warm welcome to all, The Hop Pole provides a local atmosphere attracting a lot of regulars with plenty of screens to watch the big game on.
Address: 64 Putney Bridge Road, Wandsworth, London SW18 1HR
3. The Coat and Badge, Putney (www.thecoatandbage.co.uk)
Last, but certainly not least is another favourite of ours, being The Coat and Badge in Putney. With a large and sunny beer garden hidden behind a laurel hedge and cosy interiors, The Coat and Badge is a great place to visit for a beverage at the end of a long day and it provides a great atmosphere for watching live sports. With 326 positive reviews on Google, there’s a reason why it’s a hit!
